  7. Dogs are the same species, just different types, so there would be no problem with the gametes combining to create a fetus. The genes for size are recombinant. So it is possible and would probably be more interesting if the the Great Dane was the female. Think of mating a huge 6’7″, 250 lb man with a dwarf woman…no problem.

  10. The Chihuahua would not be able to hold the babies, they will out grow it and it will eventually die, and that would be labeled as animal cruelty…

  11. First of all you would kill the chihuahua only because the dog would not be able to carry large dogs and if you would try that, chances are they would not be able to develop correctly and if born, they would die or be deformed.
    A small dog with a large dog does not work. The belly of the chihuahua would not be able to expain the large breed and you would only kill the dog.
    It’s like using a cow to a chicken, it would not work.

  16. Chihuahua’s and great danes are practically on oposite sides of the gene pool for dogs (obviously because of their size), it wouldn’t work. The zygotes would not live. No, your dog will not die from large puppies ; the insemination just wouldn’t work because the chromosome differences due to selective breeding. Just because it’s the same species doesn’t mean you can impregnate.

    The Chihuahua would more than likely die before even getting to the point of whelping.
