Potty training puppy question?

About how long until this misery ends?! It’s been two weeks and she is only slowly getting it. What is the average length it takes for a puppy to get potty trained if your consistent?

    Depends on the dog.

If it’s a small dog it takes much, much longer. I’ve had my Pug since April and she is just not starting to have less accidents.

  2. After NINE months of not making accidents she is good but usually it will take up to 1 and a half years.

  3. Always someone wanting things to be easy, You did know that potty training wouldn’t be easy right? It can take weeks and even months for a dog to get the hang of it

  4. Some dogs learn very quickly, but some don’t .If you’re consistant with taking it out it usually takes less time. When you take it out and let it potty, bring it directly back in and don’t allow it to play,as most dogs will get confused about why you’re putting it out.If this method is used it usually takes about 2 wks.

  5. it took me 9 months to wee-wee pad train my dog ,and my friend 1 month. i took me 3-4 years my mom said .just be constant. i took the wee-wee pad and soaked up some of the pee and put the wee -wee pad in the area i wanted her to use it . and when she did it i gave her a but scratch and a treat and acted so happy. she got and a year later no problems.

It takes about 4 weeks until she has no accidents (well, mostly) and the way you know that she is REALLY 100 % housebroken is when she goes for 12 weeks with out 1 accident!

  7. <~~~I took ours out every hour on the hour ... after a couple of weeks, it went to every hour and a half. When we went outside, I'd walk real slow and watch their behavior and when they acted like they were looking for that perfect spot, I'd stop and wait. After they were finished doing their thing, I'd praise and give them a treat.

In between the times we were outside, I'd watch them in the house and if they acted like they were looking, I'd make a distracting noise, scoop them up and carry them outside. If they accidentally started to go in the house, I'd make that same distracting noise, scoop them up and carry them outside.

There was never any hitting or rubbing the nose in the accidental mess. I'd always clean it up and use Nature's Miracle to get rid of any lingering odor.

He was paper trained by the breeder ... it seemed to take any time for him to go outside. He'd be carried outside and one day, I opened the door and he walked through. It was seamless - from that time on. We'd put the paper down at night until he started tearing it up. So we picked it up and that was it. No crate and no mess.

She ... was a completely different story. We got her from a different breeder. I took her out for about a month like that - every hour on the hour and then every hour and a half ... I wasn't sure she was ever going to get it. After a while, she started coming up to me during the day wanting to go out. When she started that, I used a crate at night. She never messed in her crate. She stayed in her crate at night for about four months.

    No accidents since.

    Good luck
